History

Tortilleria La Nueva was founded in 1969 by Arcenio Vazquez and his wife, Carolina Vazquez in the small town of Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico, their 6 children only toddlers at the time. Since its birth, Arcenio and Carolina worked very hard to produce the highest quality tortillas for their customers, using only the best ingredients.

Soon their popularity grew, making them one of the busiest tortilla shops in town. As their children grew older, they were taught the work ethic and values that made their business so successful and by the time their children turned 20, they each had a business to call their own.

In the year 2003, Amador Vazquez, Arcenio’s oldest son, decided to bring these values, work ethic and unique recipes to North Texas, opening the doors to La Nueva Puntada #1 in Dallas. The success of this tiny shop on Clarendon Drive was unprecedented and soon La Nueva Puntada expanded to include three more locations in Pleasant Grove, Duncanville and Irving.

Today, 43 years after its birth, La Nueva Puntada is a third generation family business and continues to incorporate the highest quality and care in everything we produce, from fresh tortillas to authentic Mexican food.
